The Hip-Hop world is mourning the loss of Rapper and Slum Village co founder Baatin (Titus Glover). He died on August 1st at his Detroit home at the age of 35.

His cause of death is still unknown at this time.

Slum Village is one of my favorite Hip-Hop groups of ALL time. I fell in LOVE with Hip-Hop listening to Slum Village, The Roots, Talib Kweli, Blackmoon, and a select group of other Hip-Hop musicians that were (and still are)  fresh, fly, and didn’t fall victim to the mainstream sell-out vibes that so many musician succumb too.

He will be surely missed but just like J Dilla formely of Slum Village (who passed away in 2006 from Lupus) his music will live on forever. Upon his passing, Talib Kweli called Baatin “more influential than you can imagine”. I could not have said it more eloquently.

REST IN PEACE

DISCO: the remix: One of my ALL TIME favorite tracks from Slum Village.  Ms. Jade represented on this track!
