Nightly Candy Best of 2010: Reality Competition Show~ The Sing Off

Posted on December 8, 2010

As 2010 winds down, Nightly Candy with Nana-Adwoa will share our choices for the best fashion, entertainment, TV, Film, etc. of 2010.

The Best Reality Competition Show is ~ NBC’s “The Sing Off

Every single contestant has unbelievable, God given talent. The producers of American Idol should wake up and pay attention.

The Sing Off has a stellar panel of judges who are genuine and authentic.  Ben FoldsShawn Stockman, and Nicole Scherzinger have all worked hard for their places within the music industry.  They can empathize with the contestants on a meaningful level. The judges give feedback and criticism that inspires the participants to raise the bar of every performance.

Here  are our picks for the TOP PERFORMANCES on Monday night (12/6).

Backbeat-  “If I were a Boy” by Beyonce

Backbeat singing "If I were a Boy"- Beyonce

Backbeat’s performance was so powerful that even if you’re not a fan of Beyonce’s music,  you will be after hearing this.

Street Corner Symphony- “Everybody wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears

Street Corner Symphony brought a sweet southern style to the competition.

The best group on Monday night was Committed.

Their version of “This Love” by Maroon 5 was fantastic!

An Honorable Mention goes to Jerry Lawson and The Talk of the Town.

According to the NBC website “Jerry Lawson, a member of The Persuasions for 40 years, joined together with Talk of The Town when they were both hired to perform at a wedding in 2001. The group has since performed with Rod Stewart on the Katrina Benefit, Nickelodeon’s Noggin Network on “Jack’s Big Music Show” and they continue performing at private parties in between all of their other musical projects.” It might seem a bit unfair they’re in the competition because they are so experienced however the show is so entertaining- we’ll let it slide.

The 2nd season of “The Sing Off”  is guarunteed to be the type of show that makes your cheeks hurt from smiling so much!

You can catch full episodes on NBC and Hulu.
