Hiya Sweeties
I’m not going to say too much regarding the “apology” that Chris Brown’s legal team scripted for him to read the other day because I am SOOO OVER IT. I was over it 5 months ago to be honest.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz… I’m BORED
Anyone who taps into half of their brain power could tell the apology was written by his legal team as he tried to muster his subpar acting skills to make it seem authentic.
This “apology” is came way too late. His legal team was insane for not advising him to come out right after the incident. I’m not standing in judgement of Chris Brown or anyone for that matter. I’m all about forgiveness and believe it is an important aspect of life. HOWEVER… when a happening like this occurs with a celebrity in the media I analyze it with a dichotomous lens.
There is Chris Brown the human being and Chris Brown the entertainer. It is up to Rihanna to decide whether or not she can forgive Chris for beating her. When someone is an entertainer who receives adoration, fame, and fortune from the public in my opinion it is a privilege and not a right. There are so many talented individuals in the world who are waiting on the edge of their seats to have a chance at stardom. When an entertainer commits a crime of this atrocious nature, I believe it is time to have to have their dance card REVOKED.
Why should Chris Brown still be able to make millions and regain his title of “role model”? Simply because he gave a scripted apology? I don’t think it should be that easy. It is not like he said he will undergo counseling and is making an effort to examine the reason why he would lash out violently at anyone in the first place.
I was listening to a caller on CNN’s Showbiz Tonight who called to express that she doesn’t believe for a minute that Chris Brown was truly sorry. She said when”my husband punched me in the face and broke my jaw he apologized and I forgave him. One month later he beat me so badly my right lung collapsed and he apologized and I forgave him. Three months later he beat me so badly he ruptured my spleen. He apologized for that too but that was the last time I stuck around to accept his apology.
I realize that that this is an isolated incident and it can’t be representative of every situation of abuse HOWEVER I’m taking her word for it. I don’t know about you but experiencing abuse from a first hand perspective is not on my list of “must do’s”.
It’s sick and sad but I know Chris Brown will still have those sheep-like men and women who will keep his pockets fat. Many of those people have written into Nightly Candy to communicate (as best as their illiterate minds can) their psycho LOVE and SUPPORT of Brown.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have a strong feeling that the majority of chemically balanced individuals are done with this pathetic young man.
More from me soon..

.
That was the fakest “apology” I have ever seen!!!
It’s just a pathetically desperate PR attempt for damage-control and is “too little, too late” !!!
This jerk actually refers to his brutal assault of that young girl merely as “the incident” and as “those few moments” and as “what happened” and as “what occured” (as if HIS actions were some ‘cosmic’ incident over which he had no personal control).
Unbelieveable!!
And who cares that he spoke with his “mommy” and his “priest” (or whatever) about what he did or that he ‘grew up in a home where he saw domestic violence’?!
Oh boo hoo for him.
Give me a break !!
What a jerk!!
He’d better make another video where he begs that other jerk P-Diddy to adopt him!!!
As far as I’m concerned — this loser’s career is over.
What a coward, a bully — and a fool (if he thinks anyone believes this “apology” is real).

Well Chris actually did put out a statement back in feb saying that he was sorry about what happen so that too little too late thing is wrong. And if you watch the video he says in the video why it took him so long to make a statement. I dont know how much you know about the legal system but putting a statement out like this right after the incident would have been the dumbest thing he could have done from a legal stand point, he would have been admitting his guilt before he even had a trial.
While what he did can never be justified, I can respect that fact that he came out and took all the blame. He didnt make excuses for himself. No real man would never hit a women, but it also takes a real man to take responsibility for his actions. Chris Brown didnt owe us anything, he didnt have to say a damn thing, he could have kept it moving and pretended like nothing ever happen. Whether or not he is sincere is not for me to judge because I am not him so I cannot make that call, we do not know his heart. Only he and god knows that.

Hello Bryan,
Thanks for your comments and stopping by Nightly Candy!!.
I decided to post your comment because I was sick of reading the illegible and crass comments from Chris Brown supporters.
I don’t tolerate people that do not possess the skills to communicate articulately and effectively.
The wonderful thing about being a citizen of the U.S is that we have the freedom to voice our own opinions.
I whole heartedly believe that entertainers are put to a different standard
than the “common folk” in this world. This is the very reason why a statement from Chris Brown was released at all. Chris Brown’s camp is well aware that his image has been severely scarred by
this incident and they are trying hard to salvage his career. As I stated in my blog post being an entertainer and receiving millions from the
“adoring public” requires that you live up to the expectations set by your industry. Clearly, I don’t stand alone with those sentiments.
It’s funny you mentioned in your response “I don’t know how much you know about the legal system” because I actually know quite a bit.
My sister is the Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn New York. We talk extensively about legal matters pertaining to celebrities. To be honest a lot of it goes over my head because the law is so dense and complicated (especially in NYC) but according to the legal expert in the family (who hasn’t lost a case in three years BTW 😉 she believes
Chris Brown’s legal team did a grave diservice to him by not releasing a sincere statement to the public much sooner. According to the ADA in her legal opinion it is only necessary to hold off giving statements to the press when there is even a sliver of innocence. The interesting thing about Chris Brown’s case and most domestic violence cases is there is no real viable defense and his lawyers knew that. There was NO WAY Chris Brown would ever do jail time so the main focus should have been on saving his career which means reaching out to the fans. As an entertainer you are nothing without the people… NUNCA!
There are countless examples of celebrity legal cases where
statements released to the public have worked in their favor and has been believed to have played a major role in their xenoneration. Some examples she gave were
Michael Jackson (R.I.P) in the second child molestation case where 9 counts were against him. Robert Blake made a statement to the press declaring his
innocence when his wife was murdered and was later found not guilty. There are many, many examples that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that when a celebrity
“in trouble” with the law appeals to the public and “keeps it real” and straight forward and apologizes (even if they are guilty) it usually works in their favor.
It’s a moot point because what’s done is done, what has been said has been said. I do agree with you that only God knows his heart but not even God
Almighty himself is able to soften the hearts of so many fans that are heart broken that the role model they once looked up to is capable of
pounding his clenched fists, biting, and bruising the face and body of another human being.

As a survivor of domestic violence it is hard for me to look at this situation in no uncertain terms.
Chris Brown is not a role model to young men. In recent events with the arrest of Henry Louis Gates at his own home the image of Black men in America is horrible and having celebrities like Chris Brown who violate women in the worst way in the spotlight doesn’t help African-Americans to demystify stereotypes.
You wrote that “Chris Brown didn’t owe us anything, he didnt have to say a damn thing, he could have kept it moving and pretended like nothing ever happen.” I just don’t see how that is possible if his goal is to sustain his career?
I’m very disappointed in his actions and the fact that nothing was mentioned about getting therapy for his problem gave me the impression the apology was 100% fake. My ex husband beat me within an INCH of my life. Although I haven’t had communication with him in years his mother told me he has been in counseling for years and is still conquering his demons.
I will pray for Chris that he is able to truly change someday.
